George Vansevenandt

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Vansevenandt, who passed away suddenly on August 3, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on September 3, 1958, to Roger and Isabel, George was raised with the values of hard work, kindness, and faith. Values he carried with him throughout his life.

George was a hardworking, kind, and generous man whose life was defined by his love for his family, his dedication to farming, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was the kind of person who quietly gave his time, volunteered whenever he could, and never hesitated to lend a hand. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, strong work ethic, and genuine compassion for others.

Above all else, George loved his family. He shared a wonderful marriage with his beloved wife, Laurette, beginning in April 1981. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, family, and farming until Laurette’s passing in January 2021. Though he missed her deeply, the love they shared remained with him always.

Farming wasn’t simply George’s livelihood, it was his passion and his way of life. Some of his happiest moments were spent working the land and sharing that life with those he loved. His grandchildren will fondly remember combine rides during harvest, quad rides through the fields, and the many hours spent gardening by his side. These simple moments became treasured memories that will be cherished for generations.

His greatest joy wasn’t found in the work itself, but in sharing those moments with the people he loved most.

George believed in living with purpose and leading by example. He taught those around him not to sweat the small stuff, to love your family fiercely, to stand up for what you believe in, to work hard, and to always keep your faith. His quiet strength, unwavering determination, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

George is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Cassandra (Kurt) and Stephanie (Adam); his cherished grandchildren, Lexey and Paxtyn; his mother, Isabel; his siblings, Judy, Richard, James, Daniel, and Mark (Kerry) as well as his extended family, many dear friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Laurette, his father Roger, sister Mary and his sister-in-law Marie, beloved wife of Richard.

His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the kindness he showed so freely, and the many lives he touched through his generosity, volunteerism, and willingness to help others.

A celebration of George’s life will be held at St. Jean Baptiste Church, 10034 100 Ave, Morinville, AB on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11:00 am. A live stream of the service is available for those

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour George’s memory are invited to perform an act of kindness, lend a helping hand to a neighbour, or support a local charity or community organization, something George did throughout his life without ever seeking recognition. A cause especially close to his heart was the restoration of the St. Jean Baptiste Church Rectory in Morinville.
