Gordon was born on September 10, 1963, to Shirley and Russell Bremner in Regina,Saskatchewan and was predeceased by his father Russell Bremner and his brother Lawrence Bremner. Gordon is survived by his mother Shirley Bremner, his brother Brian (Jennifer) Bremner and his long-term caregivers who became family and loved him dearly.
Gordon navigated life-long developmental challenges, supported by a wide circle of caring people. Gordon’s mother, Shirley, was devoted to helping him reach his potential.
Gordon and his brothers spent many years growing up on the oil rigs, moving from one town, province or state to another. Gordon’s adult life was filled with meaningful connections, beginning in a group home with wonderful roommates and staff, and later transitioning to a family home. Over the next 21 years family friend Lynne, volunteered as his advocate and coordinator of care, guiding those who supported him to ensure his personal needs, desires and wishes were always respected.
Gordon found his forever home with his extended family (and caregivers), Danielle Monroe, Gordon Parliament and their two daughters, Mackenzie and Brynn. Throughout his life, Gordon was active in work, social and craft programs and The Special Olympics. He loved movies and would never turn off an episode of Star Trek, even if he had seen the episode numerous times before. He enjoyed his books, took every opportunity to practice his writing and painting, collected memorabilia and was a master at quilling. He enjoyed his weekly visits with his mom, church services and his church family. In Gordon’s later years, he was loved and supported by Danielle’s parents, Ron and Margaret Monroe. Gordon thrived when his life was filled with predictable routines and Ron and Marg were exceptional at providing him with this stability as he entered his senior years.
