Gord was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on December 3, 1957, the eldest of 4 sons born to Benjamin and Kathleen Sedgewick. He spent his early years in Saskatchewan, before moving to Alberta at 16. At 19 years old, Gord joined the RCMP, and in the same year, married the love of his life, Doris Caouette. Together they embraced the RCMP lifestyle for 29 years, building lasting friendships and memories across their many postings. Following his retirement at the age of 48, Gord continued to enjoy the things he loved most, spending time with family and friends, as well as camping, fishing, and boating. Gord and Doris raised two beautiful daughters, and were later blessed with two beloved grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Gord will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 49 years, Doris; his daughters Kim (Nathan) Rockwell and Heather (Bryan) Leduc; his grandchildren Andy and Alyssa Rockwell; his brothers Taylor (Karen) Sedgewick, and Brent (Kellie) Sedgewick; his father Benjamin Sedgewick, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He is predeceased by his mother Kathleen Sedgewick and his brother Kelly Sedgewick.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Gord’s kindness, sense of humor, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Memories Funeral Home & Crematorium on Thursday October 29, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
