Born in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England, Harold immigrated with his family to Canada in 1920. The family first lived in Edmonton, later moving to a farm near Keephills, Alberta in 1926. Harold returned to England in 1940 as a Canadian Soldier with the Calgary Highlanders. While stationed in England, he met the love of his life, Noreen Walton. They married in Preston, Lancashire, on March 22, 1943 and had two children prior to the end of WWII. Once back in Canada, Harold and Noreen had four children and raised their family in Edmonton. Harold retired from Canada Post in 1976 with nearly 30 years of service. Harold leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of 70 years, Noreen, son Keith, daughters Jean (Bob), Shirley (Ralph), Kathryn (Dan), four grandchildren, Graeme, Michelle, David and Stephanie as well as many other relatives and friends. Harold was predeceased by his son Norman and daughter Joyce, parents Henry and Mary Jane and siblings, Alice, Helena (Lena), John (Jack), Henry and Anna. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the caring staff of Capital Care Grandview and also to the staff of Riverbend Lifestyles where Harold lived prior to moving to Grandview. A celebration of Harold’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be directed to Capital Care Grandview – Recreation Program.
