It is with great sadness that the family of Hazel Irving announce her passing at the age of 96 in Edmonton. Hazel was born in Vegreville, Alberta to Charles and Margaret (Callahan) Brinton and grew up there alongside her four brothers and sisters. After graduating from Vermillion College with a diploma in Agriculture, she married her first husband, Forest Tucker in 1942 and began raising a family of her own. After being widowed in 1967, Hazel began working at the Ministry of Transport where she met Reg Irving who would become her friend and then her husband in 1974. Together they travelled the world, played cribbage daily, solved countless crossword puzzles, golfed as much as possible, cheered on their beloved Oilers and Eskimos for which they hosted many Grey Cup parties. They mostly revelled in their growing family as they acquired an ever expanding brood of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Forest Tucker in 1967 and her husband Reg Irving in 2002. She was also predeceased by her son Bob (Frieda) in 1985; daughter-in-law Linda; son Maurice in 2013; daughter Bev (Lawrence) in 2014; grandson Nathan in 1995 and greatgranddaughter Keely in 1997. Left to mourn her loss is her brother Don (Paula) Brinton; son George (Susan) Tucker; son Dennis (Georgia) Tucker; stepson Ken (Marilyn) Irving; stepdaughter Sandra Irving, stepdaughter Wendy (Bruce) MacKenzie; and stepson Don (Lucy) Irving. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Hazel’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 - 34th Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta
