It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Jackie McConnell. She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Richard and Lil Toma; husband Owen McConnell; sister Joy (John) Komarnicki; nieces Lauren (Jesse) Komarnicki and Katie (Evan) Komarnicki; granddaughter October McConnell and numerous friends and family. She was predeceased by her sister, Janet Toma and her son Shevlin McConnell.
Jackie was born in Edmonton, Alberta and she was the oldest of three daughters: Jackie, Joy and Janet. She met Owen McConnell while working as an artist at North Star Sports, not long after they met they were married on Valentine’s Day. They had a son, Shevlin who was born on August 23rd, 1990. Jackie worked many years in retail sales, earning sales awards and many loyal customers at Red Wing Shoes. She retired several years ago and helped care for her elderly mother.
Jackie was a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was also a fierce protector of her family. She was tough as nails when she needed to be, but could also be soft and kind. Jackie was a fun - loving person with a huge heart. She was a very talented artist and she loved music, no matter the genre. In fact she loved to dance and was often the life of the party! She loved to celebrate with her family and friends.
Jackie will be missed dearly by those of us who had the good fortune of knowing her. May she rest in peace with the angels and other loved ones who have gone before her.
