He was just here in Florida and we spoke for such a long time.

Jerry and I attended Tagore Memorial High School in Guyana, where our friendship first began. Apart from our school days, Jerry would often visit me at my parents’ home when he came to retrieve his cattle from a pound located a few villages away. On those occasions, we would share some fruits, and he would drink some water to cool off from the heat of the sun.
We were fortunate to rekindle our friendship in Edmonton when he moved here as a young man and started his family. One day, after our mothers met, we discovered that we were related — and from that day on, Jerry made sure we lived like brothers. We even worked together for a time, and I cherished those years. Having him as a confidant in business, and as a friend who brought humor and support through good times and bad, meant a great deal to me.
Those who know Jerry will tell you that he could make anyone laugh — and laugh and laugh. Some people at my work laughed so much at his jokes that they cried! Jerry had a joke for every occasion and every story — especially when it came to politics.
What I admired most about Jerry was his intelligence and the wide range of subjects he knew about. He was well known in political circles, but his knowledge of the oil and gas industry, along with his travels around the world, gave him a deep appreciation for different cultures and people. His memory of chemistry, physics, and even literature always amazed me. Whenever he spoke on these subjects, it baffled me how clearly, he remembered things from decades ago.
On behalf of my family and coworkers, we understand how big a loss this is for the Hansraj, Joga, and Magnes families. Our deepest sympathies go out to his brothers, sister Rose, his mom, daughters Angela and Natasha, and his grandchildren, and sons-in-laws.

I feel truly grateful to have met Grandpa Jogia and to have shared so many smiles, laughs, and wonderful stories with him. His warmth and wisdom left a lasting impression, and I know his legacy will live on through each of you, carrying forward the values he so deeply instilled. I am very sorry for your loss.  Jerry has been my neighbour for about 30 years. During those years, Jerry has been a very good neighbour: he often watched my house and watered my plants while my family and I were on long holidays; he and his wife often invited me to celebrate special occasions with them.  Jerry also gave me a helping hand when I needed it.  My family and I surely miss him very much.
