

Born on November 4, 1942, to Ernie and Freda Cathcart on a farm near Silton, Saskatchewan, Jim attended school in Silton and later worked as an Office Manager for Indequip Sales for 43 years.
Jim was known for his love of sports and card games and was actively involved in community sports, church, and school activities. Known for his warm personality, kindness, and sense of humor, Jim's quiet nature and compassionate heart drew people to him. He listened without judgment, offered kindness freely, and left those around him feeling understood, respected, and appreciated. Through his genuine interest in others, he built an extended community of friends who came to feel like family and who always knew they belonged in his circle. Jim made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marilyn; his sons, Michael (and wife Jillian), Robert, Shawn (and wife Stacey), and Brent; and his grandsons, Nolan and Owen. He was predeceased by his father, Ernie, in 1978; his mother, Freda, in 2003; and his brother, Robert "Bob," in 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m, Friday, October 16, 2026 at Glenwood Funeral Home (52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, AB
