Jerry Zomerman

Born on September 2, 1935 in Nieuwolda, Groningen, Netherlands to Engel Zomerman and Wobbina Zomerman nee Van der Hoek.

After immigrating to Canada with his family, Jerry married Margaret Mead in 1964 and they shared 62 years together raising 4 children John, Andrew, Angeline and James on the farm north of Stony Plain, Alberta.

Jerry was a proud and dedicated farmer. He was an avid reader on multiple subjects and read multiple newspapers and farming publications daily. After Jerry retired he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife Margaret, his children John Zomerman (Brenda), Andrew Zomerman, Angeline Stelter nee Zomerman (Parry), James Zomerman (Lisa) and his sister Zwaantina (Tina) Bootsma. He was preceded in death by his parents Engel and Wobbina Zomerman, sister Geertruida (Truus) Haan and three of his grandchildren Rachel, Raven and Ashley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 21 at 2pm at Hainstock’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, 9810 34th Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. A livestream of the event will also be available.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Edmonton Food Bank.
