It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jodi Jakeman, a remarkable woman whose kindness, unmistakable laughter, and generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born and raised in Maple Ridge, Jodi built lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel like they mattered. She possessed a warmth and compassion that came naturally, extending grace to friends, neighbours, colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched. When she welcomed you into her life, you became part of the family she chose. If you were fortunate enough to be in Jodi's circle, you knew what it meant to be loved wholeheartedly.

Her laugh was unforgettable. Joyful, contagious, and unmistakably hers, it could fill a room and lift the spirits of everyone around her. And then there were her hugs. They weren't quick or casual. They were long, strong, and heartfelt, leaving you with the unmistakable feeling that she loved you.

Jodi loved being around people, and some of her happiest times were either playing in, watching or betting on sporting events. Jodi loved the camaraderie and competitiveness that came with the games, she was in her element.

Jodi joined Ron in Edmonton, where together they built a beautiful life filled with love, friendship, laughter, and ROJO adventures. Golf became a big part of that chapter in her life. She loved teeing off with Ron and friends locally or the many annual events as well as vacations centered around her beloved game.

Jodi loved to travel. She had dreams of checking off destinations on her bucket list, but if there was one place that truly felt like home away from home, it was Los Barriles, Mexico. It became her favourite getaway, a place where she and Ron made treasured memories together and where she found peace, sunshine, laughter, and everything she loved about being away.

Jodi appreciated all the little things that made life fun. Concerts with Ron were among her favourite nights out. She loved great music, good wine shared with friends, and every now and then, trying her luck at the casino. Whether she was planning the next getaway, raising a glass with friends, or laughing until her cheeks hurt, Jodi knew how to make the most of every moment.

Her beloved Frenchies were never just pets. They were family. They brought her endless joy, unconditional companionship, and more laughter than she could have imagined.

Jodi's life was never defined by titles or things, but by the way she made people feel, with generosity, unwavering loyalty, genuine compassion, and an open heart. She celebrated the successes of others, stood beside friends through life's greatest joys and deepest challenges, and made every gathering brighter simply by being there. Her greatest gift was making people feel they belonged.

Jodi leaves behind her partner, Ron, and a legacy of friendship, kindness, laughter, and love that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. While our hearts are broken by her absence, we will forever be grateful that our lives are brighter, richer, and better because Jodi was part of them.

Those fortunate enough to have known Jodi will forever miss the sound of her unmistakable laugh, the comfort of her unforgettable hugs, and the unwavering kindness she shared so freely. She reminded us that the greatest legacy we leave is not measured by what we accomplish, but by how deeply we love and how profoundly we make others feel they belong.
