

Jonathan was a self-made man, a compassionate individual and very industrious person.
He had his early childhood education in Accra, Ghana and strived to go beyond the limitations of what Ghana could offer.
Through his own ingenuity and foresight, he looked beyond the shores of Ghana and subsequently emigrated to Canada to continue his education.
Like all migration narratives, it was not an easy journey. But Jonathan made the best of his situation.
Despite his dreams of milk and honey, it was not all that rosy for him during his early days in Edmonton, Canada. But he persevered and survived the challenges of his time. Without any substantial support from home and very meager earnings as a student, he completed his program of studies at Grant MacEwan College, now MacEwan University.
He was never shy of work. Work for Jonathan was survival and defined the essence of his humanity
He found his humanity in dignified labor.
He was the quintessential Canadian Public Servant!
He worked for the Department of Health with the Government of Alberta as a Claims Adjudicator. He served in that position right after College till his retirement and demise.
Jonathan was generous, full of love and humor!
He hated the spotlight but nevertheless pushed people into the spotlight.
Such was his gift of empathy for all his friends and family.
He was a family man, a loving husband devoted to his wife, his kids and grandchildren.
He was a deeply philosophical individual who always reflected and pondered over the meaning of his existential reality.
He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Sophia; his children - Isaac, Justin Mawuli, and Julian Dela; grandchildren - Melvina, Melvin, Makayla and Elias; brothers and sisters – Julius, Karl, Betty, Richard, Kenneth, Emmanuel and Olivia, as well as his extended family.
