Joyce was born in Belleville, Ontario on September 12, 1931.
Joyce studied nursing at the Hotel Dieu in Kingston, Ontario where she met the love of her life.
She married Gordon Kingsbury on July 16, 1954, and they moved to Edmonton in 1955 where they lived and raised their family until Gord’s passing on May 23, 1999.
Joyce volunteered in the community with Girl Guides and raising money for Heart and Stroke Foundation. She also found time for being an Avon Rep. Her life’s professional calling was being a registered nurse. That ended after 14 years (1978 to 1992) at the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit of the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. There she had the distinct pleasure of caring for the very vulnerable newborn babies.
Joyce was much loved by all her family and many friends.
The family thanks the Citadel Care Centre in St. Albert for all their loving, compassionate care over the past three years, with special thanks to her two private caregivers; Joy Dizon and Anne Henry who she loved with all her heart. We cannot express enough our gratitude for providing so much love and comfort in her final years.
