Katherine Rodgers Wood

Kathy began her life journey in Dundas, ON where she eventually met and married Don Patterson and moved to Copetown, ON.

She was a woman ahead of her time joining the workforce at an early age, eventually moving on to run the Kelly Services agency at a time when women were not often seen in management positions. She was a fair and logical leader, earning the respect of those around her through her hard work, good judgment and genuine care for people!

Kathy’s life journey took her to Edmonton, AB next, where she continued her position with Kelly Services and met and married Tom Wood. Kathy retired into the Tim Horton’s franchise in Edmonton (owned by her son Rod and his wife Sheila) and continued to work well into her eighties where she warmed the hearts of staff and customers alike!

What people will likely remember most about Kathy was her kindness and her endearing smile. She was always there to help anyone who needed help no matter the challenge. She also had a great sense of humour and was prone to unforgettable fits of laughter. That laughter was infectious and always brought smiles to those fortunate enough to share it with her.

Kathy was adored and cherished by so many people, especially her children Pat (Tom) Sandi (Ulrich) and Rod (Sheila). Many smiles were put on her face by her grandchildren, Jill, April, Brendan, Jeff, Devanne, Corbin, Christina and great grandchildren, Gabby, Priya, Scarlette, Suraya, Ryder, Amelia, Spencer, Milla, Ember and Aaron.

Kathy was predeceased by her loving husband Tom Wood in 2003. Tom and his children (Penny, Tom and Tara) brought great joy and some crazy fishing adventures to her life!

Kathy leaves behind her a legacy of love, laughter and kindness. In her honour, remember her by carrying forward the qualities she lived by - helping others, choosing kindness, laughing often, and bringing a smile to others.
