this earth is only one, just think of her as resting, from the sorrows and the tears, in a place of warmth and comfort,
where there are no days or years, think how she must be wishing, that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness,
can really pass away, and think of her as living, in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.
Kaylee LeAnn Detka was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Kaylee will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Kaylee was born on December 4, 2010 at Sturgeon Hospital, in St. Albert, Alberta. She was the daughter of Lisa Irvine and Bogdan Detka. Kaylee grew up in Sturgeon County on an acreage.
Kaylee enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things, a favourite vacation was going to the lake.
Kaylee was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. Kaylee's favourites were her two cats; Billy and Sheba. They were best friends, as for Billy he loved Kaylee so much, he would sleep with her, and he loved to be close to her. Her family was well rounded out by her cats for 2 1/2 years, until Kaylee passed.

Simply stated, Kaylee was a good and kind little girl, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Kaylee leaves behind her a legacy of wonderful friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Kaylee LeAnn Detka.
Kaylee LeAnn Detka was born on December 4th 2010 at 8:43 AM. She weighed in at 7 lbs., 9 oz.
She was our first and only child. She was loved by so many. She was a happy, growing baby until she was 5 months old.
She started having seizures and was not drinking her milk like she had been. After many tests at the hospital we were given the horrible news that she has leigh's disease. They told us that there was no cure; they did not think she would live much longer
than a year or so. Basically they said she had no muscle tone, she would never sit, walk, talk or gain any skills back that she had learned up to 5 months old. Kaylee had so many people that loved her so. Kaylee would now spend many days in and out of hospital. The family surrounded her with so much love and happiness. On special occasions like her birthday, Christmas, and Easter
everyone would gather around her as no one knew how long we would have. She would go and visit her Great Nana and Great Grampy a lot during the week. She loved them both so much. She would just stare up at her Great Grampy with her beautiful blue eyes. Her Grandma and Auntie would come over to our house every weekend and spend as much time with Kaylee as
possible. She would also spend time with Grandma and Grandpa Detka and Aunts and Uncles on occasions. She proved the Dr's wrong when she hit her second birthday. She could show you so much love. She was able to mumble and communicate. She would give you this sideway look when she had enough of you. Kaylee loved to be loved, she was a cuddler. Her mom could
always tell what she wanted or needed. Mom thought she was so lucky; she got to stay home every day with her very special little girl. We would get up in the morning and brush our teeth then we would do a little exercise. We would bake cakes with the music on; we were always singing and dancing around the kitchen in her wheelchair. We would do some reading and watch some videos, have a bath and make supper for when dad got home from work. She had the most amazing father. He would get home from work and give that little girl so much love (Daddy time). On the weekends she would sleep in with Dad, again (Daddy time). She went to the dinosaur forest with Mom and Grandma in August 2011. She went to the lake lot a few times with Mom, Dad, and Auntie. She had her first trip to the swimming pool on Mother's Day, May 12/13. She went with Mom and Dad. Grandma came to video and take pictures. She loved this. She thought WOW this is the biggest bathtub ever. We were so excited to take her back there but never got the chance. Kaylee died on Monday June 10/13 . On the Friday before she passed she laughed so hard and for so long, that was a great thing for both her Mom and Dad to see and hear. Then on the Saturday when her Grandma, Great Grandma and Auntie were over at the house, she said MOMMY. That was the first time we heard that. What an amazing thing for me to hear. She gave me the best present ever before she passed. Born December 4th 2010 at 8:43PM, at Sturgeon hospital St Albert, Alberta.
Baptized - October 29th 2011 at Holy Rosary by REV. Andrzej Sowa, OMI.
Godparents - Monique Marie Irvine and Elvis Richard Detka.
It is with so much sadness that we are here today to say farewell to our only child, Kaylee. She was a lovely and vibrant little girl who has been taken away from us much too early. But the memory of Kaylee will live on in us forever. We were so proud of her and know that she is in peace.
Dear Kaylee,
Mommy and Daddy miss you so much.We were so blessed to have been given the privilege of being your parents. You were such a sweet, loving and beautiful little girl. You were such a fighter. You had it tough right from the beginning. Once you
were born, your Grandpa got sick and you would travel every weekend with Auntie to visit Grandpa. We thought that was tough. Then came the really hard news, our Kaylee girl is sick. Although you spent some time in the hospital, you
spent more time at home with family and friends. When health professionals said you wouldn't or couldn't: You did! We had so many good times and so many beautiful memories. You also had more nicknames then anyone I know. I'll name
a few just so you don't forget, O.K. there was toots, tootsie, buttercup, dolly, Miss Kay, girl-girl, baby girl, pancake, and then of course powdered pancake when you would get your baby powder on. Remember the time we went with Grandma to
the dinosaur park. That was fun, seeing all the dinosaurs and umh the mosquito's. Oh yeah and remember the time your Auntie brought us shopping and left you outside the change room. Silly Auntie. You would love going to Nana's and Grampy's. You would sit in that same chair with Grampy. I am not sure who was more proud, you or your Grampy. You would just stare at him until you fell asleep. Which happened almost every time and your Nana just adored you. All the special holidays and birthdays we got to spend with family and friends. Grandma and Auntie would come over every weekend and there was always a lot of laughter. I will always remember playing music and dancing with you in your wheelchair.
Whenever you woke up from a nap, Dad would say, Is there a girl girl waking up? You would give a little sigh and always take your time waking up, I always said you wake up like Auntie. Remember the time we went swimming, that was fun, you
thought that was the biggest bathtub ever, I will never forget how happy we all were. Our love for you is forever! Everyone who got the chance to know you loved you dearly. You have touched so many people in your short but meaningful life.
Mommy and Daddy love you so much, you will always be in our memories and forever in our hearts. Goodbye for now, our precious girl- I know you are up in heaven now, waving down to us with that sideways look, fishing with your Grandpa.

Letter from Grandma;
My Darling Kaylee LeAnn,
How sweet you are. God sure picked you with care when he brought you to us. I was so lucky to have you, with your beautiful face, blond hair and eyes of bright blue. You had the smile of an angel. We were blessed each and every day to have you
with us. You brought joy to our lives and touched everyone you met, from doctors, nurses, family and friends and especially your Nana and Grampy. Grandma will love you forever as you will always be my Baby girl. Keep a place for me in heaven and someday, I will be able to hold you, hug you and kiss you once again. You will always be my baby star.
Love Grandma
Hi Kaylee,
From the time you were born you moved into our lives, never to be the same. You will always be with us, no matter where we are, or where we go. You left a lot of empty hearts behind. You were given to this family for a reason, to show us what true love is all about. Even though you could not speak, you showed us what real love was in so many ways. When you looked into Nana's eyes, I knew you loved me. When you put your face on mine, I knew love. When you held my little finger and never wanted to let go, that was true love. When God sent you to your Mom and Dad, he knew they would be the right parents to care for this very special little girl. Lisa, Kaylee taught you so many things; she had a very special way of showing her Mom and Dad what her smile meant to you. Like when pretending to be asleep, and then she would open her eyes and smile at you like she was playing a game. What a beautiful moment for you Lisa.
Everyone knew that Kaylee was special and touched everyone she met in some way. Kaylee, when you were with Grampy, looking at him so intensely with those beautiful blue eyes, which said it all! He knew how much you loved him.
Good night, sleep tight, until we meet again. (RIP) baby girl, love you forever. You will always be
my Dolly.
