Kenneth Vernon Stanton, age 72, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on June 21, 2026, following a courageous battle with bladder cancer.
Born on January 11, 1954, in Edmonton to Kenneth and Veronica Stanton, Ken attended NAIT to become a Red Seal Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic. He dedicated 55 years to the family business, Stanton Metal Fabricating. Ken was also a passionate leader in his industry and deeply active with the Edmonton Construction Association, where he proudly served as a Member, Director, President, Chairman of the Board, and the architect of "the Stanton Strategy."
Ken was happiest outdoors, whether camping, fishing, hunting, bird watching, or travelling. A true sports enthusiast, he loved watching almost any game, but nothing brought him more joy than cheering on his grandchildren in hockey, figure skating, and climbing. Known for his keen sense of humor and quick wit, Ken made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Jan Stanton; his children, Amy Davidson (Brice), Matthew Stanton (Anna), and Aaron Stanton (Julie); and his cherished grandchildren, Eric, Lily, and Olive. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Rob, Tom, Debbie, Susan, Trudy, and Ross, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in his honour on Friday, July 3rd, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (11223 51 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ken’s memory to Ducks Unlimited Canada, a cause fitting with his love for the outdoors.
