December 24, 1988 - March 19, 2023
It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our beloved Kris Jillian Asuncion-De Guzman, whom her loved ones and friends fondly call Jill or Kris. She passed away on March 19, 2023, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 34.
She was loved by many, especially her husband JM; her parents, Victorio and Bettylyn; her sisters, Rio and Jenevie; her brothers, Jumer, Johnson and AJ; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was born in Isabela, Philippines to Victorio and Bettylyn Asuncion on December 24, 1988.
She grew up in Ramon, Isabela, with her two sisters and three brothers. After she graduated high school
from La Salette of Ramon in 2005, she then went on to study BS Nursing at Far Eastern University Philippines. She became a registered Nurse in 2009 and started her career as Staff Nurse in Isabela. Seeking more adventures and to further her career, she flew to Singapore in 2011 and worked there for almost 6 years.
In 2016, she met the love of her life, John Martin De Guzman (JM) through a close common friend. They started as friends at first, and their friendship grew into long-lasting love and became a couple in 2018. They got married in 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta.
In 2017, she immigrated to Canada to reunite with her parents and siblings, settling first in Quebec and then moved to Edmonton. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lucere Dermatology Clinic and then as Clinic Manager at Healthwise Optimum Massage. Her colleagues adored her as someone who always tries to help others, resourceful, high-spirited and a hardworking staff that an employer would yearn for.
Jill/Kris will always be remembered as kindhearted, sweet, thoughtful and selfless. Her creativeness, optimism and cheerfulness always brighten-up the day of everyone around her. She loves adventure; exploring beautiful places, meeting new friends, savoring different cuisines and discovering new passions/hobbies.
Even after her cancer diagnosis, she still kept her steadfast faith in Jesus, equipping her with strength and courage in her battle until the very end. Jill/Kris will never be forgotten but forever be remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
"With God all things are possible" - Matthew 19:26
