Liane Kimiko Pape

Liane was born November 4, 1959, in Kamloops, BC to Louise and Atsushi Nabata. As the eldest of four children, Liane grew up as a natural caregiver, looking out for each of her siblings. Liane’s early vocational work started close to home, working at her father’s dental practice as a dental assistant, an experience which she often spoke about fondly. Liane’s thoughtful and generous nature led her to a career as a vision therapist, a role that she loved. Through her work, she helped youth to correct their vision, build literacy, and participate in athletics to reach their potential.

Liane’s generosity extended beyond her career, as she was very passionate about her volunteerism in the schools of her children throughout their education. She was fondly known for the craft program that she ran throughout the elementary years, and was always the first person in everyone’s minds when the school productions needed sets and costumes. Liane will be remembered for her creativity, innovation, and skill with the sewing machine, paint brush, and hot glue gun.

Liane is survived by her husband, Barry; and three children, Erin, Alix (Aymane), and Jon. Liane also leaves behind her mother, Louise; three siblings, Neil, Colleen (Blaine), and Tammy; a sister-in-law Barbara (Roger); five nephews and two nieces. Liane has touched many lives over her time, and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to her family. Her presence will be deeply missed.

There will be a celebration of life for Liane on Saturday, July 25, at 2pm, at the Hainstock’s Funeral Home. Please reach out to the family if you would like to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a small donation to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in Liane’s memory. The Cross Cancer Institute played an important role in Liane’s diagnosis, treatment, and recovery during her time battling cancer.
