Born November 12, 1938, in Innisfree, Alberta, Lillian was raised on a farm in the Innisfree area, where steady work and simple joys helped shape a life marked by devotion to home, family, and community.
After marriage to Nick Debrinski, Lillian eventually moved to Hinton, Alberta, where they lived for over 50 years. She later married Ernest Lawrence, and in that season of life she found deep purpose in caring for Ernie and continuing to extend quiet kindness to others in the ways she knew best.
To have been welcomed into Lillian’s kitchen was to know her care in its most tangible form. She had a true gift for cooking and baking, and she shared that gift generously—offering warmth, comfort, and nourishment as an expression of love. Her love of gardening was just as evident, as she delighted in growing things and blessing others with produce and flower bouquets, given freely and with thoughtfulness.
Lillian worked at Fabric Care as a presser, and later at Hinton Cleaners, where she was involved in all aspects of the business. She retired when she married Ernest Lawrence, and remained happily occupied with caring for Ernie and continuing to bless many with gifts from her kitchen. Lillian and Ernie were very involved in their church, and through their counselling efforts they eventually helped open a counselling center in Hinton.
Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Martha Scherba; her husbands, Nick Debrinski and Ernest Lawrence; her sons, Douglas Darrell and Dennis; four brothers; four sisters; and one stepson. She is survived by her son Joe (MaryAnn), her daughter Judy (John), her seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her sisters Louise and Adeline, and three stepchildren and their families.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9810 34th Ave, Edmonton, AB, T6E 6L1, Canada, on November 21, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
