I worked with Marie in Hall Beach during the DEWline days which is where she met Joel.

They were such a great couple, always organizing social events and the like.

Marie had a big personality and a great sense of humour. When I heard of her passing, I recalled so many times when she made me laugh so hard. 

Kind hearted Marie, may you rest in peace.

Hello Joel, I was thinking back to my school years in Montreal and the Pensionnat Mont Royal and school in Outremont. I remember Marie Morency as a brilliant student and a nice person. My last memory, so long ago, is of the library on Gatineau street above the fire hall. Both Marie and I were wearing our school uniforms. I'm sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Carole Dastous, Calgary.

I have only recently heard of Marie's passing. I knew her from MacEwan University and shared a room with her on our memorable trip to Rome. Marie was a wonderful, interesting person and I am so happy to have shared that trip with her and gotten to know her outside of the classroom.  My condolences to her husband and her family. 

I spent many hours on the radio-teletype in Eureka chatting with Marie during night shifts while she was in Mould Bay - lots of interesting conversations.  I later worked with her for a couple of months in Hall Beach. She had a bubbly personality and was always fun to be around. I'm very sad to hear of her passing. Marie was a kind soul.

Hello, Found out very late about Marie's passing; met her only when she was helping her parents leave their home near mine in Montréal. She was very devoted to them both when in their residences inspite of the distance.  Sad to hear she also had died.

Dear Joel: Sorry for your loss. I too worked with Marie at the AB Weather Centre. We shared many a night shift and stories of the High Arctic. And yes she was a passionate person for the jobs she took on, as in learning IT and working at Corporate Challenge events, which where we last met.
May she rest in peace.

My husband and I counted Marie as a friend and co-worker in the late 80s. Marie and I worked in the Alberta Weather Centre where we became friends through time. Marie was one of the few truly social and  outgoing people that we have the privilege of meeting in life. As shift workers, staffing the same position, we generally worked opposite each other. It wasn't until we started  to meet socially that I got to know her. As mentioned by so many, Marie was generous in spirit and action. She hosted so many social evenings at that beautiful home. Marie was a wickedly good scrabble player in English, one of many board games she loved to play. Marie and Joel hosted so many fun evenings with a cross-section of co-workers and friends.  We got to know her, Joel, her dogs (Nicky and Pang at that time) and see her incredible art collection. Marie had spent a few years in the Arctic, at various stations, and she spoke well and knowledgeably of the people and places she had seen. Her time there inspired much of her art collecting. I will miss her, and I know that the world is a less interesting place without her.  Our condolences to Joel, family and friends.

Marie had an amazing love of beauty and art.  This is not surprising from someone with such a generous heart.  Once every week or two Marie would walk into my gallery and visit, usually paying down a painting.  Over the years Marie and Joel became friends, and these visits were highly anticipated, so much fun!  Marie always spoke her mind, knew what she  did or did not like immediately ...so connected emotionally to the work.  That was such a thing of beauty to see, a true lover of art!  And, a true lover of dogs ... she would always bring my dogs gifts ....  Christmas and Birthdays were never forgotten, bags full of wonderfully wrapped bones and squeaky toys.  She once send a postcard from Paris to my bulldog ...that is Marie ... so thoughtful, so sweet, a "one of a kind"!


I first met Marie at the Hall Beach weather station in  1987. she trained me for the first few weeks of work.  Marie was always generous with her time and efforts. A very kind soul indeed.

So sorry to hear of Marie's passing.  We met many years ago in Mould Bay and maintained contact over the years.  Our sympathies to the family.


Such a lovely lady to work with over the last few years.  She was dedicated  to Corporate Challenge events and Marie was so helpful.  She made a point of genuinely involving herself in a positive way and was a very nice person to be around.  I will miss you, Marie. I wish you and your loved ones; Peace.  

I was very saddened to hear about Marie’s passing. These past years, we have been delighted to work with her at the Canada Revenue Agency.  Marie and I enjoyed disagreeing about the usage of the French language during our French Retention sessions at work.  She offered me a book about the treasures of the American French,  that I will forever keep in her memory.

Marie was a wonderful co-worker at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. She was my lifeline during the transition from film to digital.  For many of us she was the go-to person who generously shared her knowledge with kindness & efficiency. I was very fortunate to have known her.

I am so very saddened to hear of Marie's passing.  I had the privilege of working with her when she was in IT at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.  She brightened up any location she came into.  I loved her willingness to participate in activities that were held, and the only picture I could find of her was this one from Corporate Challenge many years ago.  I have very fond memories of her (and her socks), and I am truly grateful to have known her.  May you all find comfort in family and friends during this difficult time.

I worked with Marie at the Alberta Weather Center in Edmonton in the 1980s.  We were both meteorological technicians and provided support for producing and disseminating weather products and information.

I remember Marie as being very passionate and most generous.

We connected well, as we were both from Quebec, which enabled us to converse in her mother tongue of French.  Her ideas and thoughts were very well expressed with much passion.

She will be fondly remembered.  Rest in Peace.
