Melvin Lyle Wozniak

It is with great sadness that the family of Melvin Wozniak announces his passing on August 9, 2026, at the of age of 74.

Melvin was born September 10, 1951 the son of Barney and Anne (Muzywolski) Wozniak and grew up in Melville, Saskatchewan, where he graduated from Melville High School in 1970.

He began his career with Canadian National Railway in Melville in 1971 and dedicated more than 35 years of service to the company. Over the course of his career, he worked in Melville, Winnipeg, and Edmonton, taking on a variety of roles in railway operations, crew management, payroll, and employee relations.

Following his career with CN, Melvin was employed with the Commissionaires where he provided more than 15 years of service.

Melvin also proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves from November 11, 1969, until his honourable release on December 31, 1978. His service included time with the Cadet Instructors List and the 2517 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps.

Throughout his life, Melvin was committed to supporting his coworkers and his community. He served in several roles with the Canadian Auto Workers union, including Local President, Local Chairperson, and Health and Safety Committee Representative. He was also actively involved in hockey and ringette associations, as well as local community and church organizations.

Melvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lindy (Miller); his son, Brent Wozniak (Linda); and his grandchildren, Brendan Wozniak (Amanda), Abigail Wozniak (Colby), and Katelyn Wozniak. He will also be remembered by his siblings, Melinda Wozniak, Richard (Loretta) Wozniak, Laurie (Glen) Tank, and Cathy (Ray) Beatty, as well as his numerous nephews, nieces, and many friends.

Melvin was predeceased by his daughter, Tricia Wozniak; his parents, Barney and Anne Wozniak; and his brother, Rodney Wozniak.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Melvin will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, and his memory will remain with his family and friends forever.
