Merv was one of the very first individuals who took me “under his wing” in my first year in the EFOA (Edmonton Football Officials Association) and was a great mentor during that time; Merv always had a kind word and was forever smiling……rest in peace my friend.

Thinking of Merv's family at this time. We officiated football together for many years. We had many laughs together before, during, and after the games. I will miss his smiling face whenever we chanced to meet.

What fond memories of Merv as a young lad. He and his best friend Neil (my brother-in-law) rode their bicycles (not mountain bikes, just one gear cruisers) from Beverley ( northeast Edmonton) to our farm just north of Round Hill. The paved highway 14 was easy, the 14 miles of mud and rain from Tofield was exhausting. Merv enthusiastically embraced life, he will be deeply missed. Barb and I extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
