Nadia Kramar passed away quietly on September 18, 2026 in Youville Nursing home St. Albert. This followed a long battle with the after affects of a stroke.
She is survived by her cousin Jerry Szkolar, and his son Andrew Szkolar, both of Edmonton. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anna Kramar, immigrants from the Ukraine, and by her siblings, twin sister Vera (Jones) and brother Orest (Kramar).
Never married, Nadia worked a short time following high school, as a receptionist with CN Railway. She quit the workforce as a young woman to care for her mother who suffered from MS. Nadia was self taught in the fields of nutrition and medical terminology. She would often share her thoughts and opinions with physicians, and other medical personnel, concerning treatments of both her mother and herself. She admitted they at times disagreed.
Following her mother’s death some 40 years ago, Nadia remained in the family home in Inglewood and spent her days getting to know her neighbours. She could often be found, coffee in hand, strolling up and down the street visiting and chatting with anyone who happened to be outdoors. She also enjoyed cycling throughout the city and at one point shared that she had traveled by bicycle to Morinville to visit friends. Nadia was a devout Christian, and could often be seen reading the Bible in her backyard during lovely summer days.
Nadia loved shopping! She stated once that she often bought things not because she needed them, but because she liked them. For those who attended her final yard sale, it was obvious she “liked” a great many things over the years and parted with none.
Nadia was an eccentric part of the Inglewood community and will be missed. In her memory, donations can be made to a charity of choice. She herself, was generous during her lifetime, to a number of Christian organizations.
Funeral services will be graveside at Northern Lights Cemetery, 15203 Campbell Road, Edmonton, on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Lunch will follow at Memories funeral Home 13403 St. Albert Trail, Edmonton.
