

It is with deep sadness the family announce the passing of Norman George Miller of St. Albert, AB on May 19,2026 at the age of 81.
Norman George Miller was born September 12, 1944 in Neudorf, SK to the late Norman Jacob John Miller and Leola Rita Annesley. He is survived by his beloved wife Lynn of 59 years, daughters Debbie (Thomas), Wendy (Bryan) and Tina (Dave), 8 grandchildren Natasha (Jordan), Ryan, Nick (Cassie), Corey (Shae) Caleb, Abby, Piper and Shiloh, and great grandson Jaxen. Siblings Fred Miller (Janet) Linda Hanowski (Murray), Robert Miller (Florintina) plus numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Norman was predeceased by his sister Brenda Barabash (Miller).
Norman began his military career at the age of 16 years as a Soldier Apprentice in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. Following his graduation in 1963 to 1977 Norman was stationed in Kingston, Egypt, Penhold and Calgary. In 1977 Norman received his BSc (Hons) Geography Environmental Services from the University of Calgary. Upon commissioning to an officer in 1977, he was posted to various units in Calgary. From there, Norman was posted to Germany, Ottawa, Colorado Springs (NORAD), with his last posting as Base Supply Officer at CFB Edmonton.
Following retirement from military service Norman held various civilian positions which took him to Grande Prairie, Edmonton, one year in Pakistan; then Norman decided to fully retire and focus on spending time with building his trains, travelling, family, genealogy, and was passionate about having the opportunity to be a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society and helping at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 271.
Norman enjoyed cheering for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and Edmonton Oilers.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Sturgeon Community Hospital for their dedicated and compassionate care for Norman.
Family and friends may pay their respects during the viewing on May 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail, Edmonton, Alberta. Private interment will be held in Red Deer on May 27, 2026.
In lieu of flowers and other tributes, donations in Norman’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 271, 6 Tache Street, St.Albert, Alberta.
