

On the evening of August 10, 2026, Dr. Rajendra Narang of St. Albert, Alberta, passed away at the age of 83 after being diagnosed with cancer and suffering complications from a stroke. He is survived by his beloved wife, Zenia; his three children, Rajiv, Paul and Wendy; and his two grandsons, Tye and Lukas.
Raj lived a wonderful and storied life. He was born on July 11, 1943, to Ram Sahai Narang and Shahni Devi Narang in Sargodha, India. He grew up alongside his five siblings and went on to attend medical school in Indore, followed by specialized training in New Delhi.
Raj then made his way to New Jersey, where he completed his internship. He later came to Edmonton and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. He began his medical practice in Lac La Biche and soon afterward transferred to the Sturgeon General Hospital in St. Albert. Raj went on to have a successful and fulfilling medical career spanning more than five decades.
In 1980, Raj met Zenia, who was also working at the Sturgeon General Hospital. They married in 1982 and shared nearly 44 years of a beautiful marriage, surrounded by a loving extended family. Raj had a deep and profound impact on his family, and they were together with him during his final days. He passed peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him. His service was held on August 14 in a small and private gathering.
Raj will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His remarkable life, his dedication to his family and his profession, and the many lives he touched will be remembered always. He will remain forever in our hearts.
