Vinod was born in Lahore, British India, and loved learning all his life. He studied chemical engineering at Panjab University in Chandigarh and went on to doctoral studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Before finishing his dissertation, he came to Canada as a student and earned his Master of Engineering at the University of Windsor. He went on to build his career with Environment Canada and made his home in St. Albert, Alberta.
He was a kind and gentle soul. He believed deeply in science and academia, and he was also spiritual and philosophical; he saw no conflict between the two. He was proud of his Indian heritage and gave his time generously as a volunteer at the Hindu temple.
Vinod lived by the habits he believed in. He swam four days a week, walked his 10,000 steps, and practised yoga and meditation, and his steadiness was an example to everyone around him. He was happiest in his garden, especially tending his apple trees.
Above all, he was a dedicated and proud husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Anjana; his son, Kabir; his daughters, Mira (Ashvin) and Seema (Rishi); his grandchildren, Archie, Zayn, Anika and Ishaan; and many other close friends and relatives from around the world.
