It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Wai Chong Leung 梁覃惠長, our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother, who passed away in Edmonton, Alberta, on August 8, 2026.
Mrs. Wai Chong Leung 梁覃惠長 was born in Shunde, Guangdong, China on November 16, 1930. She moved to Hong Kong in 1946. She and her husband (梁鴻光) married in 1950 and operated a carpentry business together. They and their two sons (Lawrence梁保釗 and Leslie梁保國) moved to Canada in 1975. One year later, her husband passed away.
Mom had worked as a kitchen helper in a Co-op store for 17 years, where she was well-liked by colleagues and praised by her bosses for her strong work ethics. Mom was a dedicated worker who supported our family sacrificially. She was intelligent, gentle, kind, and compassionate.
Mom received Jesus Christ as her Savior & Lord and was baptised at the South Edmonton Alliance Church in 2001. She regularly attended church meetings & services and faithfully prayed for others, asking for God’s blessings and guidance. Mom was always thankful for the Lord’s healing and protection for her and her family. She has demonstrated to us the value of hard work, honesty, and living with faith, hope, and love.
Mom finished her journey on earth at the age of 96 and peacefully passed into eternity in the early morning of August 8, 2026. She is survived by her eldest son Lawrence & his wife Celia; daughter-in-law Ida; granddaughter Tomina, granddaughter Nydia & her husband Cameron; granddaughter Daisy & her husband Benjamin; and great grandson Gavin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10 am at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 - 34th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alberta.
