With great sorrow, the family of Mary Gutmann announce her passing away peacefully with family by her side on August 16, 2023 at the age of 95 years at Grandview Long Term Care in Edmonton. Her husband Ken predeceased her in December of 1996.
Born March 26, 1928, Mary grew up in England and moved to Canada in 1967 where she and Ken call Hardisty, Alberta home for over 30 years. She was an active member of her community and founded the first Kindergarten Program in Hardisty where she taught for many years.
Mary is survived by her son, Robert (Lisa) and his children Dayton (Karina),and Garratt (Andrea) and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter, Margaret (Robert) Leathem and their children, Daniel (Nika) and Christopher.
A family Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 2:00p.m. at Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium (9810 - 34 Ave., NW., Edmonton). Donations may be made in Mary's memory directly to the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta, to Plan International Canada or to the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton.
