While attending Brigham Young University he met and fell in love with Ronelda Marie Neilson. They were married on August 23, 1968. They moved to San Diego, CA where Doug finished his B.A in Education with a minor in speech and Hearing. He also obtained his Special Education teaching credential and later earned his Master of Arts in Education degree. He worked for the South Bay School District as a speech Therapist for over 33 years.
After the passing of Ronelda in 2002, he married Carol Dee Hatch on August 1, 2003.
He lived a full and wonderful life. He was dedicated to his family, and very involved in the community and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as Bishop of the Imperial Beach Ward from 1994-1997.
Doug is survived by his second wife, Carol Hatch-Jones, daughters: Jennifer Fox and Wendy Mora, step sons: Eric Hatch and Bret Hatch, 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, his sister, Chris and brothers, Val and Brent.
