

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Francisca Chagoyan. She was a beloved sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on May 8, 2025, in Santee, California.
Francisca was born in Villa Unión, Sinaloa, Mexico on October 4, 1939, to Martin and Enedina Meza. She first came to the United States when she married her first husband. She married Roy Collins Runyon on April 11, 1956. Together they had 5 children, Francisca, Roy, Marisela, Laura and Frank. She married Juan Manuel Chagoyan on December 6, 1975. Together they had 4 children, Melissa, Rebeca, Alicia, and Raquel. She was a proud grandmother to Joseph, David, Mark, Patricia, Nicole, Thomas, Katherine, Lisa, Matthew, James, Luke, John, Kristy, Justin, Alyssa, Ginger, Franky, Sonya, Misty, Lydia, Timothy, Diego, Barrett and Harlan. She was a proud great-grandmother to Noah, Aidan, Mason, Ava, Lana, a privately adopted great grandson, Pahn, Mikaela, Dhonn, Roy, Donte, Collin, Aylin, Arthur, Bear, Stephanie, Sarah, Anthony, Secily, Savannah, Zachary, Evan, Adylyn, Colton, Kianna, Khloe, Marilyn, Anthony, Jackson, Cooper, Kaley, Olivia, Kai, Emersyn and Layla. She was a proud great-great-grandmother to Mara, Jack, Chevelle and Mabel. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will sadly miss her.
While raising her family, she took classes in childhood education through the San Diego City College District. She received her Certificate in Childhood Education from San Diego Mesa College in 1991. She worked as a bilingual preschool teacher for Vista La Mesa elementary school until her retirement in 2006. Upon retirement, she found joy in keeping in contact with her family members and friends. She devoted her time to being an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Francisca was known for being frugal with herself and generous with others. She had strong religious values. She was known for her strong will, determination and resilience. She had incredible patience and always made time to help others. Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we should not look back on the past, seek a more positive future and choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us. Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, sister, son and grandson.
She was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
The family is currently making plans for the funeral and reception. Further details will be shared soon.
