Harry Curry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and laughter, just as he lived every day of his 84 years. A proud Navy veteran, avid golfer, and world traveler, Harry made a lasting impression wherever he went.
Born on August 6, 1940, in Bourne, Massachusetts, Harry was a star athlete in high school, known for his competitive spirit and natural leadership. Those early qualities carried through a life filled with service, adventure, and genuine connection.
Harry served honorably in the U.S. Navy, continuing a lifelong commitment to country, community, and camaraderie. He was a proud life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), a member of the American Legion in La Mesa, and part of the Elks Lodge #168, where he built lasting friendships and gave back to the community he loved.
He enjoyed the simple joys of life — especially camping with friends, where the stories, and laughter brought him great happiness. An avid golfer and a man who never passed up the opportunity for a good conversation, Harry had a gift for connecting with people from all walks of life. He made everyone feel like they belonged.
Harry’s life was rooted in faith. He loved the Lord, and his deep spiritual strength was a quiet constant that guided him throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Curry, whose partnership was the foundation of their beautiful life together. He was a proud father to four daughters: Debbie Roman (deceased), Shelly Dixon, Kathy Clarke, and Robyn Chambers. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Tim McElyea, Stephanie McNulty, Amber Dixon, Terra Mesbah, Devin Clarke, and Chloe Chambers — each of whom carries his light forward.
Harry will be laid to rest with honor at Miramar National Cemetery, in recognition of his service to his country and the full, generous life he led.
Though Harry has set off on his final journey, his laughter, stories, and boundless heart will echo on — in every round of golf, every shared memory, and every quiet prayer. He lived fully, loved deeply, and never missed a chance to connect. For those who knew him, Harry was truly unforgettable.
Fairways and blue skies, Harry — we’ll see you down the road.
