Jack Robert Clough, Sr., 80, of El Cajon, CA passed away on July 30, 2020. His Celebration of Life service will be held on August 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Lifepoint Church 8111 Orange Ave, La Mesa, CA 91942. Reverend Steve Asmuth will be officiating.
Jack was born in Aberdeen, Washington, on February 24, 1940. He graduated high school in 1958. He enlisted in the Navy in 1960 as an Attack Squadron in Lemoore, CA. That is where he met his wife Beverly and they wed in 1961. They were married for 50 years until her death in 2011. Together, they had a daughter Kathy and a son Jack II.
After Jack’s Naval career, he worked as an appliance repairman. Eventually, he and Beverly moved to Southern CA and purchased a TV and Appliance business (Bert’s TV and Appliance) in Whittier, CA. He worked to make a living but his heart was all about serving God and helping others and he took advantage of that anytime he was able. For over 25 years, he was actively involved in Christian ministry at First Family Church, in Whittier, as a deacon, board member and Bible Study leader. Later, he moved to San Diego county and joined Shadow Mountain Church as a deacon, usher and Bible Study leader. There he met Kathy Speights and they married in 2015.
Making people laugh was one of Jack’s favorite things to do. He loved a good steak, Snickers, baseball, Pepsi and NASCAR. He was often caught being playful and silly. He always had a good book or two or three going. Most of all, he loved people and he wasn’t afraid to show it. He was an affectionate hugger! He loved the Word of God and never stopped studying and learning from it. Jack was a prayer warrior and when he said he would pray for you, he meant it.
Jack is survived by his wife, Kathy Speights-Clough of El Cajon, CA; his daughter Kathy Yetz and her husband David of Alpine, CA; his son Jack R. Clough II and his wife Mary Lou of La Mirada, CA; his step-son Danny Beers, Jr and his wife Karen of San Diego, CA; 5 grandchildren: Jack R. Clough III of Las Vegas, NV, Jaclene Rochelle Stevens of San Antonio, TX, Nathan Yetz of El Cajon, CA, Neil Yetz of Fort Collins, CO, and Janene Clough of Aurora, CO. as well as 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Clough and his wife Evelyn of Sitka, AK; and his aunt Eleanor (who was like a sister to him) of Lilliwaup, WA.
Jack is preceded in death by his father Gerald “Jack” Clough, mother Kathlyn Clough and first wife, Beverly Clough.
