They say a legend never dies, which means Larry is at his new Paradise drinking beer, watching the Padres, and reveling in the love his family emanates. On July 29th, 2021, Larry Bergl (age 62) set off to meet his dad, among others, on this new journey. He is immensely missed by his loving wife, Liz; his mother, Elberta; his sons, Sean (Robin), Shane (Monique), Andy (Sara), Larry, Joe (Summer), & Terry (Dawn); 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; two loving sisters, Pam & Michelle; nieces & nephews, and a multitude of other extended family and friends.
On May 31, 1959, Larry was born in South Bend, Indiana to Larry and Elberta Bergl. He graduated from high school in 1978 before making his way to San Diego in 1980. Working as a car salesman, he met the love of his life, selling her far more than just a car! Larry loved her with every piece of his being. Together their home became the heart of their family. They hosted holidays, birthdays, and countless other special occasions. However, it was also a place to find comfort, advice, tough love, and amazing food. They raised 6 amazing boys and their grandson, Matthew. At times, even nieces and nephews called their place “home”. His love and protective nature will live on through each life he has touched. In 1983, Larry started Infinity Fiberglass. Over the years, he helped many people and was still known for his 1983 prices. Larry built such a solid reputation that over the last 10 years, advertising wasn’t even necessary. He often incorporated teaching moments into his jobs. Surely his customers remember his grandsons and nephews tagging along, getting their hands dirty, and learning valuable lessons.
Come out and raise a glass to one of the greatest men ever known. Larry’s celebration of life will be held at the Paradise on Friday, the 27th of August, from 1-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to your favorite charity or simply help someone in need.
