Barbara M. Christian

Barbara M. Christian, 69 of El Dorado, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She was born January 5, 1945, to Thomas and Willia Lou Easley Smart in Palestine, TX.

She was a school teacher for the Strong School District, a member of the Self Culture Club, the Eastern Star Order #352, and was of the Missionary Baptist faith. Barbara graduated from Washington High School in El Dorado. She attended Grambling State University and graduated from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Edward Charles Christian, three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Tadiza BerShawn Christian-Smith and her husband, Dexter; granddaughter, Hannah Michelle Smith all of Mesquite, TX; brother, Garland R. Smart and his wife, Renata of Killeen, TX; sister, Patricia Smart Scott of Norphlet; a special friend, Charles Freeman; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Douglas Chapel with Rev. D.L. Hegler officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
