When night has taken your pain
and darkness has taken your song,
my life is left cold and empty
barely comprehending you're gone.

But glory has broken for you,
and the darkness I know is just mine.
While heartache clouds my vision,
God’s glory is filling thine.

Alone, your voice will haunt me
because I hear it no more,
but today you’re singing with angels
alive on that beautiful shore.

When grief has stolen the moment,
and I think I cannot get past;
I’ll cling to the hope that is inside me
and remember you‘re home at last.

Daylight has erased your troubles.
God’s choir now sings your songs,
and short is the road before me
until my soul is where it belongs.

Soon we’ll be together;
this darkness will leave my sight,
and I will be at home beside you
in the eternal day that knows no night.

Charles Dale Pogue of Stilwell, Oklahoma, was carried home to his reward on December 7, 2020, after a long struggle with Covid-19 and its complications. Charles served as a gospel preacher for many years and preached at churches of Christ across the United States. He served as Editor for The Issues of Life, a religious periodical, and operated In Word or Deed.com. He was a loving husband and devoted father. Charles was born in Bertram, Texas, on June 11, 1950. He grew up in Liberty Hill, Texas, and had many fond memories of the place and the people there.

Charles was also a musician who wrote thousands of country music and gospel songs. Charles not only penned countless songs, but wrote several religious study books, tracts, non-fiction books, and even a few fiction books. Charles was a treasure to his family and friends and will be missed by many. And while those he left behind will miss him for a few years, they know he is in the arms of his savior and reunited with the loved ones who’ve gone before.

Charles is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Linda Sue Amidon Pogue. His daughter Susan Dalene Elliott and husband Larry of Beeville, Texas. His son Scott Adam Pogue and wife Sandra Pogue of Goodman, Missouri. He leaves behind six grandchildren: Charles Elliott, Naomi Elliott, Arianna Elliott, Elizabeth Pogue, Melody Pogue, and Jesse Pogue.

He was preceded in death by his parents Steward Andrew Pogue and Dorothy Mae Conner Pogue of Liberty Hill, Texas, and his dear sister Barbara Sybert of Jarrell, Texas. He is survived by his sister Karen Smith and two brothers James Pogue and Andy Pogue.

Memorial services will be held on December 15, 2020, at 2 PM at the Four Corners church of Christ in Stilwell, OK. The church is located at the corner of S. 4750 Rd and State HWY 100. Services will also be broadcast live via Susan Elliott’s Facebook page
