She was the youngest of seven children. She was a graduate of El Dorado High School, where she finished her last two years in one year, so that she could marry the love of her life, Alfred Acton, Jr. This union took place on October 5, 1948, they were in their 70th year of marriage. She retired from Lion Oil after 51 years and 8 days, serving in the crude oil department. She also worked helping her husband with his saw mill operation, B&T Handle Company. She was a member of Desk & Derrick for over 45 years, and at times served as president. Freda had a green thumb and loved flowers and gardening and could grow just about anything. She loved to travel and was able to take many overseas trips including visits to Switzerland, Greece and Paris. Freda and Alfred were Challenge Level Square Dancers for many years and traveled across the US to dance. She was known as Deeda by all the kids that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Elizabeth Johnson; and brothers, Ray Humble, Asa Humble, Robbie Humble, Ned Humble, and Jimmy Humble.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Alfred Acton of El Dorado; numerous nieces and nephews; and several good friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Young's Chapel with Bro. Billy Smith officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 until service time. Burial will follow at McFarland Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Arkansas Heart Association, or to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
