James was born June 4, 1926 in Groesbeck, Texas. During college, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. While serving a tour of duty in East Camden, Arkansas, he met and then married Ophelia Marie (“Marie”) Cotton, of Locust Bayou on March 13, 1953. After serving honorably for 24 years, James retired from the U.S. Navy. James and Marie then moved and made their home in Camden, Arkansas.
Predeceased by his wife, Marie, James is survived by their two sons, Jim Cotton and his wife Cindy, living in Olathe, Kansas, and Robin Cotton and his wife, Jonnie, living in Springtown, Texas.
Burial and memorial services will be private. Arrangements were handled by Young’s Funeral Directors.
