

Jimmie Lou Bates, 64 of El Dorado, passed away, Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. She was born October 31, 1948, to John Powell Barker and Gracie Lee Thomas Barker in El Dorado.
She was the owner/operator of Kountry Korner, a volunteer at Hospice for four years, and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents; and her loving husband, David George Bates.
Survivors include her son, Jason Powell Bates (Jessie) of Mabelvale, AR, step-son, David Wayne Bates of Nashville, TN; step-daughter, Tina Renee Ladd (Jon) of Mt. Juliet, TN; seven grandchildren, Kayla Bates of El Dorado, Jessica Bovee (Brandon) of Ozark, MO, Aron, Ashley, and Drew Ladd of Mt. Juliet, TN; Whitney Gatgimosof Nashville, TN, and David Neil Bates of Mabelvale; four great grandchildren, Elijah V. Gatgimos, Lexi Marie, Marlee, and Brooklyn Bovee; one brother, John Thomas “Tom” Barker (Mary Lee) of Vivian, LA; one sister, Linda Hammond (John) of El Dorado; father-in-law, Morris Nash of Smackover; three sisters-in-law, Joanie Orren, Mary Ann Peace both of Smackover, Elizabeth Slayter of Crossett; and also several very dear nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Young’s.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Pelz officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
