After a very courageous battle with cancer, John Terry Reames, 43, entered peacefully into to Heaven on March 7, 2026, "hearing welcome home good and faithful servant." Surrounded by his family, he entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior. Though his passing came far too soon, those who loved him find peace in knowing he now walks in the presence of Christ.
John was born on Palm Sunday, April 4, 1982, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to parents, Terry and Cheryl Reames. He attended West Side Christian School from first grade through his senior year, graduating with the class of 2000. He went on to attend Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a degree in computer science. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of El Dorado.
Professionally, John served as co-owner & office manager of his family's business, Concrete Service Inc. He enjoyed working alongside of his family with integrity and dedication. Outside of work, he was known for his many impressive collections, including vintage Nike shoes and sports memorabilia.
John was an avid learner and always eager to understand new things. He loved the intricacies of Roman architecture and spent many hours bringing that passion to life by designing classic Roman temples, cathedrals, and even full cities block by block on Minecraft. After showcasing his talent online, the demand from other builders inspired him to begin creating tutorials to help others learn his technique. Through this, he was able to build a community of over 30,000 loyal followers worldwide. His 456 video tutorials are widely appreciated and have garnered over 6 million views. This achievement was even recognized by Minecraft Magazine. Apart from sharing his architectural designs, he used this platform as a ministry for sharing God's word, not to be wood, hay, and stubble. Ultimately, he wanted people to know Jesus.
Above all, he was a faithful follower of Christ who loved the Lord throughout every season of his life. His faith shaped the way he believed, lived his life, and the way he loved others. He carried this unwavering faith throughout his illness. He was known to be a man of patience and humility. He lived his life guided by his faith in Christ. He loved reading his Bible and hiding his word in his heart. He could quote most any passage and loved to discuss scripture.
Though his time with us was far too brief, John leaves behind a legacy of faith, curiosity, humor, and love. Those who knew him are encouraged to remember to share your faith in Christ.
He is survived by his parents, his brother Billy Ray Jones and wife Christi of El Dorado, Arkansas, and his sister, Manda Reames Bricker and husband Ed of Seymour, Texas. He is also survived by his nephew, Brendan Jones, and nieces: Meghan Jones, Gracie Bricker, and Sophie Bricker.
A celebration of his life at a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Arlington Memorial Cemetery, with John Morgan and Dr. Clark Whitney officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Young's Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in John's memory to the Immanuel Baptist Church building fund in El Dorado, Arkansas.
