Joseph was born in Camden, AR. on September 1, 1975. He was a 1993 graduate of Camden-Fairview High School and a graduate of John Brown University with a degree in business management. At 19 years old, he married Stacy and soon became a father to Samuel. After fifteen years of stalling on Joseph’s part, daughter Julia was born making their family complete.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Joe and Faye Kendrick; his wife Stacy Kendrick and his children Samuel Wesley and Julia Catherine. He is also survived by his sister Teresa Wheeler; nephews John and Tyler Wheeler; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bill and Becky Hansen; brother-in-law Matthew Hansen; and nephew Dillan Hansen, as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Joseph was a devoted husband and father as well as an avid sportsman. Once Joseph discovered duck hunting, a new love was born. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad and nephews. He was a problem-solver who took pride in his job of eighteen years alongside Ken and Dolores Blackmon at Ken’s Discount. Joseph started in customer service and worked his way up to manager. Although his illness kept him from participating in church in recent years, he was a deeply religious man who was proud to call Jesus his savior and an assortment of pastors his personal friends.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him; but we know he has gone on to a place where there’ s no more brain cancer, no surgeries, no radiation, and no chemotherapy side effects. He is in a place where there’s no more pain, and all who know him celebrate his determination to live his life to the fullest, regardless of his illness. He spent the last two years of his life with his family, making memories that will shape the rest of their lives.
Visitation will be at Monday, August 31 at 6-8 PM at Young’s Funeral Directors. A memorial service and 40th birthday celebration will be held at the Pentecostals of El Dorado, Tuesday, September 1 at 6 pm with Rev.’s James Fout and Nathan Dupree officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kendrick family to help with funeral and other costs that have been incurred during Joseph’s lengthy illness. Those attending either the visitation or memorial service are asked to bring a note, card, or picture to be compiled into a scrapbook for Joseph’s children.
