Kenneth F. Hicks

Born December 15, 1940 in Urbana, he was the son of Fay and Christine Kennedy Hicks. He was a 1959 graduate of Parkers Chapel High School where basketball was his sports passion while lettering and being named to the All-State basketball team.

After graduating from high school he went to work for J & M Poultry, later ConAgra when he retired as plant manager in May 1998 after 39 and a half years.

Kenneth met the love of his life, 11 year old Linda Marie Bell, when he was 14. They were voted cutest couple in high school and married December 15, 1961. Linda passed from cancer in 1986. He remained devoted to her until their joyous reunion in Heaven.

Kenneth served on the Parkers Chapel School Board and served as President for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman including horses, hunting and fishing. Kenneth was well respected in the community and would do anything for anyone.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents and wife, are a sister, Lola Jean Riffe, his in-laws, Harrol and Josephine Bell, and nephews, Rodney Orrell and Rusty Orrell.

Kenneth is survived by his four children, Sherry Tingle (David), Carrie Bates (James) and Katie Frisby all of Parkers Chapel and Kenneth H. Hicks of Austin, TX. Surviving grandchildren are Staci Tingle, Crystal Willis, Veronica Maldonado, Rob Winkelman, Daniel Bates, Shelby Frisby and Alyssa Frisby. His great-grandchildren are, Linley Tingle, Daken Pate, Jeremy Willis, Christian Kidwell, Meagan Willis, Morgan Willis, Logan Bates, Oliver Bates and Thomas Woods, who he called Taw. Survivors also include one great-great-granddaughter, Presley Thornton and two sisters, Patricia Brantley and Kathy Hicks, a brother-in-law, Ronald Bell (Nancy) of Alvin, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at One Community Church, 701 South West Avenue, El Dorado, North Entrance. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jason Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow in Jolley Cemetery in Three Creeks under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
