She was born on September 24, 1935, to William Earl and Mary Verna Smith. She was a bookkeeper for 38 years. She enjoyed volunteering at church, spending time with her friends and family, and cooking. She always looked forward to trips, trying new things in the kitchen, and Monday afternoon Farkle games with her girlfriends. She was not afraid of a little adventure.
Preceding Mildred in death are her parents, husband, Harold Holloway of 55 years, brothers Hercell, Freeman, and Bob Smith, and sisters Myrble Harbour and Patsy Billingsley.
She is survived by daughters Teri Arnold (Mike), Vicki Shackleford (Kenny) both of Smackover, and Ginie Herring (Mark) of Bryant, Arkansas, and one sister, Francis Lamkin of Eros, Louisiana. Mildred was lovingly known as “Mamaw” by seven grandchildren, Kevin Squyres (Christy), Colby Shackleford (Angela), Chad Squyres, Daryl Squyres, Angie Shackleford, Meredith Powell (Austin), and Jay Michael Arnold (Jena), and five great-grandchildren, Hannah Squyres, Rowdy Shackleford, Trace Squyres, Harlyn Powell, and Riggs Powell.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church in Smackover, Arkansas, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
