Olan Glynn Hayes, 63, of Junction City, AR, passed away, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born July 17, 1955 to Olan and Gladys Boles Hayes in Farmerville, LA who preceded him in death.
In 1975, he started a career in Monroe, LA in broadcasting sports around North Louisiana and many festivals. Olan played in gospel groups and other bands during the 1980’s and 1990’s. He also announced Junction City Dragon football games until 2013 for Noalmark Broadcasting. Was employed for 16 years at Deltin, before retiring in 2013 due to illness. As a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church for 24 years, Olan organized many gospel singings and other activities to raise money for youth activities, and also organized Christmas programs for the children and youth. He coached sports through the Boys and Girls Club and also coached teams at Mt. Union.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Susan Hayes; son, Jeremy Glynn Hayes; grandchild, Kinsley Lyric Hayes; all of Junction City; brother, Benny Hilbert (Gloria) of West Monroe, LA; sisters, Nell Hayes Spencer (Mayer) of Rocky Branch, LA, Betty Hayes Spillers (Kenneth) of Calhoun, LA; nephews, Johnny Spencer (Margaret) of Rocky Branch, LA, Bruce Spencer (Jen) of Farmerville, LA, Darrell Williams (Jenell) of Calhoun, LA; niece, Sonya Taylor (Stuard) of Calhoun, LA; and sisters-in-law, Mary McAdams (Roy Lee) of El Dorado, Nancy Nunn (Gary) of Lowell, AR, Linda Peace (Jim) of El Dorado, Brenda Bittle (Tom) of Bauxite, AR, and Vicki Peace (Chuck) of El Dorado.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Mt. Union Baptist Church with Rev. John Ayers officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 until service time. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
