Pearolee Lydia Dennis

Pearolee Lydia Dennis, 100, of El Dorado, departed this life on Wednesday, May 14th, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.W. and Mary Watson, seven brothers and sisters, and a son, Paul Stephen Dennis.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Thomas Preston Dennis of El Dorado, two sons, Phillip (Christie) of El Dorado, and David of Texas, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Dennis was born in Bigelow, Arkansas on May 2, 1914. In 1940 she was ordained as a minister of the Assemblies of God and retained her ordination for the next 74 years until her death. She received her Master’s degree in Theology in 1948 from Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas and pastored several churches in Louisiana and Arkansas over the next 20 years. In 1964 she began Faith Assembly of God in El Dorado where she served as pastor until her retirement in 1970.

Visitation will be from 9 until 10 a.m. on Saturday at First Assembly of God Church, with services to follow at 10 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Linda Greer and the Rev. Alan Womack. Burial will be in Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
