On January 30th, 2019, Otila Salazar Rivera was reunited with long-missed beloved family and friends at the age of 101. Born in El Paso in 1917, she grew up with a family of sisters: Carmen, Genoveva, Linda, Licha, Minnie, Consuelo, and parents Benjamin and Cruzita. She taught generations of loved ones her favorite hobbies – crocheting, sewing, braiding, etiquette, and a variety of games, though no lesson was more ingrained than that of the importance of family.
Tillie married her soulmate, Arturo, in 1938 and raised 3 children: Arthur (Laura), Isela (Charles) and Victor (Margie). She is preceded in death by her husband Arturo and son Victor. Her family went on to grow to include 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, most of whom she was fortunate to meet in her lifetime.
With over a century of sharing her wisdom, love and life-lessons, we now share our grief as she will be missed, though know she is looking over us and will always be in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 15th at 11:30am Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, Texas 79915 followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
