Alejandro Alfonso Sanchez

[December 1, 1938] – [February 4, 2025]

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Alejandro Alfonso Sanchez, who was called by our Heavenly Father on February 4, 2025, at the age of 86. Alex was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was best known for his heart, laugh, genuine kindness, thoughtfulness, and compassion.

Born on December 1, 1938, in El Paso, TX, Alex grew up a devoted Catholic. He was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved gambling at Speaking Rock and eating out with friends and family. He was a varsity high school football player and graduated from El Paso High in 1958. He worked for El Paso State Supported Living Center for over 20 years. He served in the Army Reserves for 19 years as a Sergeant.

He married his wife, mother of his children, Ofelia M. Sanchez, in December 1962. They divorced about 14 years later but remained friends.

Alex is survived by his ex-wife Ofelia M. Sanchez, their children Alex Jr. (Sandra), Rodolfo Gustavo Sanchez, Hilda S. Valenzuela (Leandro Valenzuela); grandchildren Olivia R. Sanchez, Alyssa Bianca Sanchez, and Christian Alexis Sanchez; great-grandchildren Dante Matteo McMahon and Felix Ernesto McMahon; twin sister Esther Castro and sister Beatriz Mathews; family member Yolanda Lopez; and many nephews and nieces. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his sister Lupe Ramirez; brothers Rodolfo Sanchez, Gabriel Sanchez, Johnny Sanchez, Enrique Sanchez, Alfredo Sanchez, and Eddie Sanchez; and his close friend, Cecilia Diaz.

A rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Dr., El Paso, TX 79915, at 7pm. Viewing will be from 5 pm to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini, 12200 Vista Del Sol, El Paso, TX 79936, at 12:00pm. Interment to follow at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Avenue, El Paso, TX 79938 @ 1:30 pm.
