Benjamin L. Young, also known as the maestro of melodies and master of mirth, has taken his final bow on October 2, 2023, at the age of 61 in El Paso, Texas. Born on May 3, 1962, in Alamogordo, NM, he was a rockin' soul who lived life to the beat of his own bass guitar. Benjie had a rhythm that was unmatched and a humor that could make anyone laugh till their sides hurt.
Deeply devoted to his family, Benjie was the loving husband of the amazing Beth Young and the proud papa of his son, Jared Young. Together, they formed a harmony that will forever resonate in our hearts. Benjie's love for his family knew no bounds, and his unconditional support and infectious laughter will be sorely missed.
An aficionado of all things musical, Benjie's passion for The Beatles and classic rock was truly legendary. He was very hard to beat when it came to music trivia. With a great sense of humor that could rival any comedian, he could always bring a smile to your face, just like a classic cartoon.
Benjie graduated in 1980 from Park Hills High School in Fairborn, OH, where he harmonized with
knowledge, and later he jammed his way through New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, where he graduated with a BA in Journalism in 1988.
Benjie is survived by his wife, Beth and his son, Jared. Also, his mother, Virginia Young and father Dave
Young, his brother Gary (Stephanie) Young, nephew Tyler Young, sister Kellie (Chad) Hodnett, niece Marley Miller, nephew Dominic Hodnett, nephew D'Mitri Hodnett and great niece Milah Miller. He is also survived by his uncle Alejo Gonzales, aunt Ana (Javier) Martinez, Josie (Robert) Miller and so many beloved cousins.
Benjie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alejo and Genoveva Gonzales and his aunts, Rita Torres, Luisa Gonzales and Cristina Lyon.
In celebration of Benjie's extraordinary life, a rockin' and rollin' Celebration of Life will be held on November 11, 2023, at 3:00 pm, followed by a pot luck reception with music, at 20 Alamotero Ln., Alamogordo, NM 88310.
