July 11, 2021 at his home. Bernardino (or “Bernie” as we all knew him) was born January 8, 1949
in El Paso Texas. He was 72 years old.
Bernie was a cheerful, fun loving, honorable man who came to know the Lord in a very personal
way. His love for the Lord was reflected in how he loved his friends and family. Bernie served his
country in the Vietnam War and always respected those who served in the military. After his tour
in the United States Navy, he worked several years as a salesman but his respect for the military
led him to a career as a civil servant. Bernie worked for over 33 years in various assignments
from the International Military Student Office (IMSO) to ending his service with the Brigade
Modernization Command (BMC) at Fort Bliss Army Base.
Bernie was an advocate for good health and nutrition and often could be found in his personal
gym. His love of music led him to play guitar in various bands with his buddies. Bernie also had a
passion for painting where he created dozens of beautiful paintings he was able to share with his
family.
Bernie accepted our Lord Jesus Christ and was baptised at the Eastwood Church of Christ. His
love of the Lord led him to testify to others about the blessings he had received and how beautiful
it was to establish an intimate relationship with the Lord. As Bernie grew in his faith he was given
greater responsibilities at the church. Bernie was becoming a leader within his faith community.
His wife remembers the day before his passing how Bernie exclaimed to her, “ I love God so
much! Studying His word everyday, getting to know Him more and more!”
Bernie is survived by his loving wife Alice, his mother Bertha, sons Bernie and Brian,
grandchildren Mia and Noah, brother John, sisters Rita, Rosie, Ceci, and Elva. And numerous
cousins, nieces and nephews.
