Maria Concepcion "Connie" Aragon Sapien, 95, passed peacefully February 3, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, at her home in El Paso, Texas. She was born September 3rd, 1925, in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Alfredo and Maria Tellez Aragon. Connie is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Teodoro "Ted" Sapien, along with her sister Olivia Gonzales (Agustin). She is also survived by 4 children, Grace Caro, Gloria Peña (Ruben Perez), Hector Sapien (Melissa Mattes) & Louis Sapien; along with 8 grandchildren (Amy, Danny, Cristina, Barbara, Steve, Sandra, Gavin & Austin), 13 great grandchildren (Samantha, Gabriel, Matt, Brandon, Sarah, Jocelyn, Diego, Marina, Natalia, Leo, Carter, Conner, & Alysandra), 5 great great-grandchildren (Neveah, Yesenia, Alicia, Abigail, & Dominic), and numerous nieces, nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Alfredo & Maria Tellez Aragon. She was also preceded by her brother, Arnulfo Aragon (Genoveva), and her sister Rosalina Loya (Rafael). Connie and Ted emigrated to El Paso looking for a better life where they later appreciatively became naturalized citizens. Connie, having only progressed to the 8th grade as youngster, started as a homemaker, then soon discovered a talent for sewing, and subsequently became an accomplished self-trained seamstress. She later became involved with Home Interiors Inc., a home accessory business, as a displayer and was promoted to a local manager. In this role, she supervised and mentored her assigned sales group in their development of required skills as home displayers/vendors. She was regarded a talented leader within her circle of influence by women who were striving to become successful and independent businesswomen. Connie had an artistic eye which reflected was in the many crafts she became involved with, either at work or in producing her own home decorating creations. She was vibrant, creative, wise and intuitive, and much stronger than she believed.
Connie led a rich, long life, not without its trials and tribulations, yet remained the stalwart, caring, and loving mother of her family home. She is loved & missed deeply by all who knew her. In her passing she now lives in our hearts and spirit. The family wishes to recognize Dr. Casner, and caretakers Raquel, Eva, Bertha, and Ana for all the care and loving attention provided to her in her dwindling years of life.
We also wish to acknowledge the care and support provided by Dr. Reeves, Willie, and support staff from Hospice El Paso for being there for all of Mom's care taking needs and family support.
A memorial service to celebrate Mom's life will be held on July 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.at St. Pius X Church. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MartinFuneralHomeWest.com for the Sapien family.
