Rudolph Joseph Triviz passed away on Saturday May 3, 2025. Rudy was 93 years old; born on October 10, 1931, in Fort Bayard, NM. He was the sixth of seven children born to Willie S. Triviz and Aurora Romero Triviz. Rudy’s first passion was music; consistently being first-chair trumpet in high school; in 1952 he would become the post bugler for Fort Bliss. Rudy graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1949 and joined the U.S. Army, serving as an anti-aircraft artillery squad leader in the Korean Conflict. Rudy attended Western New Mexico University, the University of New Mexico, and Vincennes University; in 1953 he was initiated to Alpha Phi Omega – National Service Fraternity. The army became his career, receiving his Warrant Officer Commission and attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1968. His son Rudolph Joseph and daughter Dora Ann are from his first marriage. In 1967 he met Esperanza, the love of his life at White Sands Missile Range; the two married in July 1968 in Las Vegas, NV, and remained married until his death. The couple gave birth to Mark Patrick, and Rudy was stepfather Josefina Cintron. At the height of the Cold War, Rudy had tours in Washington D.C., Fort Bliss, TX and McGregor Range. Throughout his career he attended military schools at Fort Riley, KS, Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN, Fort Lee, VA, and Fort Benning, GA. Rudy was awarded The Ancient Order of Saint Barbara, and the Legion of Merit in 1991. Retiring from the US. Army in 1991, shortly after Desert Storm. After retirement Rudy was the Director of a language school. Rudy enjoyed music, singing, golf, hiking, riding motorcycles, reading and writing. However, what he loved more than his military career and his own interests was God and his family. He was exceptional at making people laugh, always had words of encouragement for everyone who crossed his path and always found ways to express his love for his family. In both his military and civilian life Rudy contributed to the lives of countless people; he will truly be missed by all who knew him. Rudy received exceptional healthcare from all his providers; the family would especially like to thank Dr. Calderon at the El Paso VA Clinic, Dr. Alexander, Chief, Hematology/Oncology WBAMC, and Lupe, Cindy and Cynthia, the oncology nurses at WBAMC. Rudy was predeceased by his parents and all six of his siblings. He is survived by his wife Esperanza B. Triviz; his children: Rudolph Joseph Triviz Jr., Dora Ann Tafoya (Gerald), Josefina Reyes (Manuel), and Mark Patrick Triviz; twelve grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bryan McCord Elkins, Jacob Paul Telles, Luke Aaron Triviz, Isaac Jerome Olivarez, Joshua David Tafoya, Joseph Elias Reyes, and Mark Patrick Triviz. Visitation and Rosary will be held at Martin Funeral Home West on Thursday May 22, 2025, at 4:00PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Friday May 23, 2025, at 1:00PM with interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30PM.
