Edith (Mandy/Edie) Madden Higdon 97, daughter of Edith Murray and John Francis (Frank) Madden, Jr. passed away April 18, 2021 peacefully in her home. She was born in Omaha, NE. She started her working career in Washington, DC at the FBI. She met and married James H Higdon, Jr, a fellow employee. They moved to El Paso, TX in 1954 and started Higdon Construction Co. Later as realtors and brokers they opened Higdon Realty Inc. serving the El Paso area till their retirement. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. She devoted and advocated her time and energy for the mentally retarded children of El Paso. In later years, she took up painting and enjoyed winning Bingo.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her son Jimmy, her parents, and sisters Mary Jane Gibeau & Elinor McDevitt.
Left to cherish her memory are children Edith (Bill) Fisher, Hilary (Terry) Woodworth, Katherine (Bob) Kittel, John (Carolyn) Higdon and Rebecca (Russ) Foertsch; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters Noreen Follman and Joyce de Haas and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be 1PM to 5PM with a rosary at 3PM, Sunday, May 16th, at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Dr. El Paso, TX. A funeral mass will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 10AM Monday, May 17th. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, El Paso, TX.
